Bambini Yoga Project

Our Program

BYP has created a customized curriculum containing 3 core components of yoga, mindfulness and meditation.  We believe yoga brings children into their bodies.  By creating body awareness and core strength, children build confidence and a more positive body image. Yoga is the conduit to our mindfulness based games and activities that help to balance the sensory system and allow focus on the present moment. Balancing the nervous system increases receptivity to learning and creates a more positive academic experience.

courage

Facing difficulty or uncertainty with strength. Being brave.

resilience

The quality that allows an individual to deal with difficult situations or circumstances without becoming overwhelmed and being able to bounce back quickly.

confidence

Believing in yourself to be anything and pursue anything you put your mind to.

happiness

A state of mind or well-being that we all deserve. Being content; being joyful.

Addressing diversity and inclusion in the mindfulness and yoga industry is the primary goal of the Collaborative Yoga Project initiative.

What is the Collaborative Yoga Project?

  • The CYP is an initiative run by the Bambini Yoga Project to extend our outreach in marginalized and underserved communities.

  • We offer weekly yoga and meditation classes, yoga and mindfulness workshops and teacher training programs.  These are areas that are more social and economically diverse and do not have yoga studios.

  • Our teacher training programs will allow students from the community to get certified to become yoga teachers free of charge.  This not only provides career opportunities but also allows students to practice yoga with someone from their community who they can relate to.  We will help to create yoga homes within the communities in which we work.

Who does it support?

  • Local communities such as Marin City and the Canal Area of San Rafael

  • Youth after school, weekend and summer programs

  • Adults

What is the impact?

Studies show Yoga Postures, Yogic Breathing, Mindfulness and/or Meditation can alleviate the symptoms of Trauma by:

  • Decreasing stress and anxiety in children and adults

  • Reducing response to stressful situations

  • Increasing overall emotional and psychosocial wellbeing

  • Decreasing aggressive behaviors in response to stressful stimuli in children

  • Complimenting social and emotional learning

  • Decreasing cortisol levels

  • Decreasing heart rate with controlled yogic breathing

  • Decrease the overall symptoms of children with ADHD and boost classroom performance for children with ADHD

  • Increases feelings of self-esteem and self-respect

  • Showing declines in anger, depression, flashbacks, nightmares and anxiety

  • Increasing strength, flexibility, balance, aerobic  and overall physical fitness

Yoga homes can exist anywhere.  Help us share the practice.

Everyone deserves an opportunity to share in the benefits of these transformative practices.  Let’s start now!
